The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement System (NCPERS) is a non-profit organization of Public Employee Retirement Systems organized in 1942 to safeguard, educate and promote the rights and benefits of public employees in national, state and local retirement pension or annuity and benefit systems. NCPERS takes its role to protect and maximize the financial security of public pension members and their dependents very seriously. The Family Protection Plus plan, a Public Employee Financial Protection Plan, is designed to offer a voluntary supplementary survivor’s benefit to augment pension benefits.
This plan is issued by The Prudential Insurance Company of America and is designed to offer you and your family members guaranteed coverage at group affordable rates. This is accomplished through the purchasing power of NCPERS.
During the mid-sixties, NCPERS retained the services of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc. (GBS)* to design a voluntary plan that would allow members to help eliminate or reduce their financial risk regardless of when death occurred. The Prudential Insurance Company of America was selected to insure the benefits and HealthSmart Benefit Solutions, Inc. was selected to administer the plan.
